I have been a deviant member now for over two years, and in this time have met some amazing artists and joined or have been asked to join a few extremely cool groups. Some of these groups take on lives of their own and manifest themselves in the real world, creating actual opportunities for artists. Such is the case with the Energy Art Movement
, a group which now has its own web site at
www.energyartmovement.org/. The Energy Art Movement goes beyond the typical group here in that they look to create opportunities for its members through exhibitions at various galleries. Although the group has not been in existence overly long, it has already had two major exhibitions, the first was at the Sunrise Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA, and most recently the ongoing Energy Art Salon at Murphy Hill Gallery located on the third floor of the historic Sears & Roebuck Bldg. at 3333 W Arthington St. Chicago, Illinois that will be up through 25 February. Groups like this and shows of this caliber do not happen by themselves, but occur as a result of hard work, foresight, planning, and vision of a few key people. In this case, the driving force is Giorgio Vaseli
, the founder of the group. Several others have been instrumental as well including Adam Scott Miller
, Diogenes Lamarche
cosmicsensorium.com/ and others. Visit the club site, and especially the external web site
www.energyartmovement.org/ to see what it is all about. There is some amazing art going on there and some interesting ideas about art being discussed. I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the talent of fellow members and wonder how it is that I manage to stay in the group! The main tenet of the group is that artistic creations are enhanced with energy, either in composition or in subject matter. The group embraces both traditional and digital media.
Anyone in the Chicago area should definitely stop by the Murphy Hill Gallery and see the show while it is still up!
