orchidoplasmic union by JoeMacGown orchidoplasmic union by JoeMacGown
This was a collaboration between me and Gromyko Semper :icongromyko: In addition to being a wonderful artist, Gromyko is an orchid enthusiast; so he drew one of his orchid flowers in the center of the paper and drew a circle around the whole thing [link] I went from there filling in the circle and the background around the circle with randomness.

Give Gromyko comments at [link]

truly inspiring collaboration....a most artful piece,in the best sense of the world..it makes me think of a magnifying glass applied to chaos....giving a semblance of order..[I also found your explanation of detail-obsession interesting...as a short-sighted hyperactive person myself...I found it an interesting insight:XD:!!]

Thanks! And, I am glad you could appreciate my explanation about detail. It is definitely a different way of seeing things!

I've been wondering what would motivate a person such as yourself to render this kind of exhaustive detail in nearly every piece of their artwork. What is it about the detail that is important? Is it your personality?

very good question? I actually do lots of non detailed things, but rarely post them. For example, if you walked in my house, you would not find one detailed, weird drawing (although there is a pen drawings of an old cabin that is very detailed), but instead I mostly have up pastel, watercolor, or acrylic paintings of flowers and landscapes. But, with the others, I guess I see everything in a super detailed way. If you look around you,the world is filled with things, then look closer, look in the soil for example. Billions of tiny arthropodic worlds teaming in microscopic jungles with all the organisms trying to eat or be eaten. Then, even smaller things, bacteria, etc. I just can't seem to help but try to convey the overall complexity of life. Also, I am fairly hyper, and filling in the small spaces seems like a good way to occupy my spare time. I am nearsighted too, without my glasses or contact lens, I see lots of things up close that others don't notice. When I was younger, my family did not have much money. When I got something to draw on, I tried to get the most out of it. But, really, it does probably come down to personality.

It sounds to me that you probably have a very nuanced personality, and very enthusiastic about all the little things. Is there a reason you don't post your other artwork?

I tend to think of the other stuff I do as something that anybody could do and maybe not as reflective of my personality. I do post a few though, just not much.
