Insects are way above humans when it comes to earthly dominance. The insect populations are constantly growing. Not to mention how much they have evolved and continue to diversify to this day. Insects can inhabit nearly every climate and habitat using only their evolutionary adaptations. Some of the eusocial insects also have the most advanced social systems of any animal. So what makes humans so great? It's taken us millions of years to develop this flawed society, while some silly little inverts can develop a perfect eusocial colony in a fraction of that time! All hail the insect lords
okay....so it was the title that got my attention....Yeah...
This is wonderful! So detailed. Your work is absorbing, enthralling and totally inspiring. Your lines are so fine and the shading is perfect.
The concept, also, is something that is intriguing and somewhat irreverant....and i adore that!
Cool, yeah, somewhat irreverant. hope I don't offend anybody! I really appreciate your more than kind words! I love pen and ink, and the concept of drawing with lines. I am not so much worried about creating realistic images, and in fact, like the idea of things looking like drawings, rather than photorealism (which is cool). I like the intimacy, spontaneity, and permanence of ink. What you put down must stay. I don't mind painting, but always feel like I am cheating because it is so easy to fill areas with color.
Irreverance is so cool! It is good of you to want to avoid offending anyone. i stopped worrying about it long ago. i find that if i worry about offending anyone it curbs my creativity somewhat. So i just paint, draw or otherwise create whatever i feel.
You wrote, " I like the intimacy, spontaneity, and permanence of ink. What you put down must stay." i have to agree that it is true. i have done a few ink drawings and they were challenging in that sense. Once in a while, i need to challenge myself.
Your work is amazing. i am glad i found you here on dA.
well, I don't worry about offending people too much! I am glad you are enjoying my art, thank you very much. I am enjoying yours as well. I love this site, it really inspires me. I am glad to have met you also (or whatever they call this form of communication), you sound like an interesting person.
Oh yes, i am enjoying your art VERY much. i have to tell you that i went and took a look at your websites. Your family is beautiful! i can remember when my son was that young and he always had a smile on his face... He is 18 now and smiles most of the time (except when he is fighting with his girl). Your studio is so nice and BIG! Mine is nice too but full of inventory for eBay right now...so i have been using the house again. Your property is beautiful. We have 4 acres in Northern Arizona.
Thank you for saying that i sound like an interesting person. So do you. And yes, no matter where you meet someone, it is still 'meeting' them.... yeah.
Everyone likes beetles-they are very cool at that. However, it could be said that beetles are really just modified flies. Either way, they are certainly above people, at least having attained the level of godling or the equivalent, and therefore quite deserving of any special treatment from the ruling fly class. Obviously certain beetles, such as scarabs, and to a lesser extent, ground beetles, have been revered and even worshipped. But, I have to give the edge to flies when I think about the many diseases they may carry and the human lives they have indiscriminately taken throughout time, a fact which has had an enormous impact on society around the globe.
