One of the most striking aspects of this piece is the multiple layers of organic texture used; from the easily discernible skull, to the overall structure of the horns forming a reticulation resembling branches and even leaves in some areas, as well as the detailed, almost visceral texture of the surface area.

The movement of the horns/branches carries the eyes in unexpected directions which creates an interesting shape for the entire piece.

You integrate a wide color palette extremely well into what would normally be envisioned as a largely neutral piece.

The fusion of two very different media - watercolor and ink - is done in a way that uses both to their best ends. The watercolor creates the meandering palette and intense field of depth and the ink provides the rich detail that makes this very much worth a long, close look.

Overall, a stunning piece.
